The inspiration to create these happened on a cold December day in New York City. After purchasing our herbs at "Flower Power" on 9th street, we had a chilly, damp walk to "Bigelow Apothecaries" to check out the newest, natural remedies of the "rich and famous". We couldn't resist trying out a purifying, Ayurvedic-Tibetan inspired bath soak . Almost a year later, after much research and testing, we are producing our very own therapeutic Bath Fizzies! They are perfect for horses, people, and dogs, especially with sensitive skin. Use as a final rinse after a bath or as a quick refresher. You can find them on our store page or make them yourself!
The Recipe:
1 cup Baking Soda
3/4 cup Citric Acid (I found this at a wine-making supply store)
2 tablespoons clay (at the health food store)
Mix in a large bowl (put on a pair of Non-Latex gloves and do all the mixing with your hands).
Add 1 tablespoon of oil(grape seed and jojoba combination is best) and mix.
Add 1/4 teaspoon borax (emulsifier)
and 1 teaspoon fragrance oil of choice, mix.
Pour some Alcohol (Vodka is best) in a fine mist sprayer.
Mist and mix(about 3 mists and mix. Do this about 4 times).
Now, if it sticks together like damp beach sand then press it into a mould. Wait a minute then unmould on rack.
Let dry 3 days.
Then, package in an airtight plastic bag for freshness and to keep the fizz in!
Variations:
1. Horsefaire's signature fragrance:" Waltz of the Flowers'' (Smells Heavenly) combine Grapefruit, Lavender, and peppermint oils.
2. Chocolate(!): (Everyones favorite) 2 Tbsp. Cocoa powder/ use Moroccan red clay.
3. Tibetan Butter Tea: Himalayan Pink Salt coats the outside, add 1 T. powdered Yak or Goat milk and 1/4 t. butter flavoring (Gets my vote).
4) Our newest fragrance!:'' La Chihuahua'' -A yummy Butterscotch Sundae Parfait using 1/2 t. ground vanilla bean and 1 t. butterscotch extract.
